British Eating Habits
The British are traditionally conservative about their food and eating habits. But much of the food eaten in Britain now is not, in fact, traditional. The traditional cooked breakfast, for example, has been disappearing from homes and hotels of Britain. More and more people are interested in buying “convenience food”. Traditional foods are manufactured and processed and ready to cook or eat. Fresh fruit is a natural convenience food, available all the year round. With the changes in society, meals are becoming less formal now. snacks have become popular, they can be eaten anywhere and at any time.
An even more convenient way to eat is to buy food from a “take-away ” (can be eaten either at home or in the take-away shop). This is quicker than cooking a meal and cheaper than eating in a restaurant. The most common take-away foods in Britain are fish and chips, hamburgers and Chinese food.
More recently there has occurred a new change in the diet. As processed foods made in factories are believed to contain additives and be affected by chemical fertilizers, some people have turned their interest to natural foods. They would prefer a diet of nuts, honey, fried fruits, and naturally grown cereals and vegetables. Special “Health Food Stores” and even supermarkets now sell such natural health foods.

Extraordinary Tibetan Adventures
Tibet, used to be the mysterious, legendary and unknown Roof of the world, hidden and almost unreachable behind the highest mountains in the world, can be easily reached today from Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province to Lhasa. This is the safest way for visitors to travel to Tibet. The Himalayas are the youngest folded mountains in the world. Before the south Indian land mass began to shift northwards about 40 million years ago, the Tibet-Qinghai Plateau is at an average altitude of 4,000 meters, the most elevated plateau on earth, covering 25 percent of the entire Chinese territory. The Tibetans have been nomads for centuries, crossing the highland pastures in the south with their herbs of sheep; goats and yak. In contrast, the north is an uninhabited desert. Today, 2.2 million people live in the autonomous region of Tibet, of which about 1.7 million are Tibetans. Tibetans also live in Qinghai, Sichuan and Yunnan provinces. Tibet Adventures allow you to experience the way of life, culture, history, and spectacular scenery unique to this part of China.
